THE ELEMENT

Today I finished reading this amazing book called The Element by Ken Robinson. I took notes all along, because it really stimulated ideas and thoughts that I considered important to write down. It also inspired and encouraged me to pursue a new direction careerwise, so I am enrolling in the Studio Arts program, to major in Ceramics, which is one of my great passions in the fall.

He manage to put into words and make into a book, thoughts and ideas I have had since long ago. I fully recommend this book, to anyone who wants to live a happier more passionate life in a better world.

" Life enhacing things can happen when we take the time to step out of our routines, rethink our paths and revisit the passions we left behind (or never pursued at all) for whatever reason."

"Finding your Element sometimes requires breaking away from your native culture in order to achieve your goals."

"It's not what happens to us that determines our lives - its what we make of what happens. Our attitude is what makes the difference."

"If you have a good idea, go for it, do it your way. Take good advice, make sure it's good advice, than do it your way."

Anyways, there are lots more, that I found quite interesting, I just wanted to share some today.

Avoiding bridezilla

¿cómo no me voy a enamorar?!

En fin, es una de esas emociones geekeskas que quería compartir en el ciberespacio...hahaha
tómenlo en cuenta, el sartén hace la diferencia!

Y bueno ya en un nivel un poco más filosófico, ahí les va una reflexión...
what if the tools really make a difference? (in life I mean)
what if having acess to the right tools, materials, information, etc, is what really makes a difference between success and failure?

Think about it.

luz

Troubled soul, between hapiness and melancholy longs for a little sunshine...
A ray of light, to aim at its heart and expand quickly invading its being, sourrounding it with peace, love and happiness that lasts... not the kind that fades with the sunset into the cold dark night.

Sweet torture

...it's such torture, such sweet pain
every inch of myself screams out your name
be mine,
come inside me,
make me yours,
take over me,
take over my heart,
rip out this desire in me
and set me free.

I found this in a notebook, I wrote it 3 years ago, kind of nice isn't it?

It's easier to do nothing, but is it better?

A professor of mine once said that telling the difference between right and wrong is easy, the hard part is choosing between what is good, and what is better…

I've been thinking latetly about it, it’s easier to do nothing than to do something.

It's easier to go through life without doing anything extraordinary than working hard and taking risks to achieve extraordinary goals and experiences.

It's easier to eat junk than to eat healthy, and that goes without mentioning how much easier it is not to cook, than going to the trouble of cooking from scratch and with healthy ingredients and tasty recipes.

It's also way easier to watch TV while eating or to do so in front of a computer, than to actually make conversation around the table, and take a genuine interest in what other people have to say.

It's also much easier to not move, than to move, to stay still and remain the same, than to be dynamic and change and adapt.

We can go through each day without doing much effort if we chose to, and justify it with laim excuses that only reflect conformism and mediocrity.

Is it worth it? is it worth taking the hard working, risk taking, kicking-yourself-in-the-butt-to-do-it road?

Why?

Why not just get up, eat whatever, work without much motivation just to pay the bills, watch TV, buy whatever just to fill in the void, and go with the flow of society without complaining?

Would that lead to happiness?

Then why are so many people depressed, why is there so much cancer (a disease chinese associate with resentment), endless problems that come from that life style, disfunctional families, divorces, drug addiction, obesity, and other health problems?

Why is there so much APATHY?

If this was the road we were meant to follow, then we would all be happy, healthy human beings living in inner peace, wouldn't we?

Does this mean that we have to struggle all our lives, to overcome the tendency to do what is EASIER, and chose what is BETTER?
