It's easier to do nothing, but is it better?

A professor of mine once said that telling the difference between right and wrong is easy, the hard part is choosing between what is good, and what is better…

I've been thinking latetly about it, it’s easier to do nothing than to do something.

It's easier to go through life without doing anything extraordinary than working hard and taking risks to achieve extraordinary goals and experiences.

It's easier to eat junk than to eat healthy, and that goes without mentioning how much easier it is not to cook, than going to the trouble of cooking from scratch and with healthy ingredients and tasty recipes.

It's also way easier to watch TV while eating or to do so in front of a computer, than to actually make conversation around the table, and take a genuine interest in what other people have to say.

It's also much easier to not move, than to move, to stay still and remain the same, than to be dynamic and change and adapt.

We can go through each day without doing much effort if we chose to, and justify it with laim excuses that only reflect conformism and mediocrity.

Is it worth it? is it worth taking the hard working, risk taking, kicking-yourself-in-the-butt-to-do-it road?

Why?

Why not just get up, eat whatever, work without much motivation just to pay the bills, watch TV, buy whatever just to fill in the void, and go with the flow of society without complaining?

Would that lead to happiness?

Then why are so many people depressed, why is there so much cancer (a disease chinese associate with resentment), endless problems that come from that life style, disfunctional families, divorces, drug addiction, obesity, and other health problems?

Why is there so much APATHY?

If this was the road we were meant to follow, then we would all be happy, healthy human beings living in inner peace, wouldn't we?

Does this mean that we have to struggle all our lives, to overcome the tendency to do what is EASIER, and chose what is BETTER?
